XOKO was a concept developed for More2Win, during the Vitality Summer School program held in Tsukuba, Japan. The goal was to create a concept to revitalize and regenerate the Fukushima region during the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.

The Fukushima region was facing huge troubles getting back on their feet after the nuclear power-plant disaster of 2014. More2Win, an NGO based in Eindhoven, asked us to create a way to bring back prosperity, vitality and growth back to the region during the Summer Olympics.

Our concept utilizes the derelict and abandoned buildings in the area to build indoor sports facilities for the locals. We particularly chose 3 indoor sports that were new to Japan and the Olympics - BMX biking, Skateboarding and 3X3 basketball.

The indoor facilities aimed to spark interest in these new sports within the local community, rebuild buildings and homes and ultimately allow for businesses to prosper.

My main role was field research, user analysis, stakeholder mapping and ensuring we had the right people on board for the project. I was responsible for connecting 3X3 Unites, a Dutch 3X3 basketball foundation to collaborate and help us make this a viable project for More2win to implement. I also helped with presenting concepts to stakeholders and implementing feedback.
